Dragon Rescuscitation and What happens when you fall asleep and leave your Mummy alone with Playdoh

Dragon Rescuscitation

  1. Approach victim with caution checking for any potential hazards
  2. Try to ascertain if casualty is conscious ... might I suggest flicking him once or twice...
  3. If casualty is unresponsive attempt rescuscitation commencing with 5 rescue breaths:
  4. Follow with chest compressions:
  5. "DONT YOU DIE ON ME! GODDAMMIT!
  6. "Nurse! Get this patient into ICU immediately!
Alex fell asleep whilst we played with the Playdoh... I was left alone - so I made Owls...
The moral of the story is : When dealing with playdoh - dont fall asleep on the job...

Cath K? For £1.00???

Hi peepholes,

Thought I might share my bargain buy with you folks..

this little Cath Kidston inspired number was bought from none other than Poundland! Yes I know! Just one pound for this loveliness.. I also bought this...
How Cute??? They also had some lovely pastelly Union Jack ones which I'm kicking myself for not buying.. Cause I'm sure one would look great on Big Alex's big boy bed.

All I need now are the hot water bottles! And to think... I only went in to get change for the bus!!

Cheating Wholemeal Bananabread

For the past few months - each time we've had bananas that have lingered in the fruit bowl a little past their best - I've vowed to make Banana Bread. This week, after looking at five bananas that were rapidly turning black I finally decided to bite the bullet and do it. After looking up several recipes online and realising I only ever had half the ingredients - I decided to wing it...

  • I found one 500g packet of wholemeal bread mix in the back of the cupboard and added about 1/2 a cup of sugar and mixed them together.
  • I preheated my oven to 200 degrees and greased a 9" cake tin as per instructions on the packet
  • I then got my little sous chef aka Alex to help me mash the five bananas... Now in reality I actually ended up with about 3 1/2 - 4 bananas in the bread because the sous chef was peckish...
  • I added the bananas to the bread/sugar and mixed them together - also gradually adding about 10 fluid ounces of water.. which gave me something that wasn't quite a dough and not quite a pouring cake mix. Gloopy but not poury if you get me.
  • I scooped the mix into the cake tin, crossed the top of it with a knife and sprinkled a further 1/4 cup of sugar over the top.
  • I put it in the centre of the oven for 30 mins (again - as per instructions)
  • now when I got that bad boy out after 30 mins it was real wobbly so I put it back in for another 10 mins. I also turned the heat up to 250.
  • When it came out the next time it was as you see in the picture and tbh it was probably slightly overdone so I think next time I will cook it for 40 mins but keep the oven temperature at 200.
Ive got to say though - it was delicious. Best served hot with melted butter and a cup of tea. Mmmmmm!

Bye Baby Bunting and Happy Birthday to me!

It was my birthday at the beginning of February and I had a lovely day that struck the right balance between being relaxing, celebratory and productive.

Firstly, I sat down at my sewing machine the night before and, on a whim, made this bunting for my kitchen..

(yes it is 'rustic' to say the least but I just did it off bat - no pattern or anything - using a strip cut off an old bedsheet for the cord)

I hung it that night (about 1.00am) and went to bed to dream about birthday pressies.

I must say that I'm rather pleased with it. And it put me in a lovely party mood when it greeted me the next morning. And so - to celebrate - I made myself a birthday cake...

This is it in all its naked glory... I often get that sticky up bit in the middle when I bake a cake and I have no idea why.. Please let me know where I'm going wrong if you know why...

I didnt have much in to decorate it with so I stuck with buttercream and buttons and actually I think that its a cake that suits me quite well - a little flabby in some areas but actually rather sweet..

(I must apologise for picture quality.. this one was taken with my phone as I'd misplaced my camera at the time. I knew that if I didn't capture it on film as soon as I'd finished decorating it - there wouldn't have been a cake left to photograph)

Wonky? Maybe. Basic? Most certainly but extremely edible nonetheless.

Tata for now peeps xx
